Connecticut is buzzing with activity tonight! From legislative updates to local events and weather forecasts, here’s a quick rundown of the top news stories as of 10 PM on July 15, 2025. Stay informed and prepared as we bring you the latest developments from across the state. What’s going on, you ask? Well, let’s dive right in!

Politics and Legislation

Budget Negotiations Continue

So, the state budget… still a hot mess, huh? Negotiations are dragging on, and from what I hear, the big hang-ups are education funding and those ever-important transportation infrastructure projects. Governor Lamont’s trying to play peacemaker, calling for some kind of bipartisan summit tomorrow. Hopefully, they can hash things out before the session ends. Honestly, wouldn’t it be nice if they just got along for once?

New Environmental Bill Passes House

Good news for the green thumbs among us! The “Clean Connecticut” bill, which aims to cut carbon emissions and boost renewable energy, made it through the House of Representatives earlier. It’s off to the Senate now, so keep an eye on that. I’m cautiously optimistic. Think it’ll actually make a difference? I sure hope so.

Local News

Hartford Arts Festival Kicks Off

The Hartford Arts Festival is officially underway! Bushnell Park is packed with art lovers, families, you name it. Live music, food (always a plus!), and tons of art on display. It sounds like a great weekend plan if you’re looking for something to do. Runs through Sunday, so plenty of time to check it out. Maybe I’ll swing by myself, if the weather cooperates.

Bridgeport Ferry Service Suspended Due to Mechanical Issues

Uh oh, travel trouble! The ferry between Bridgeport and Port Jefferson is out of commission for now. Seems like some mechanical gremlins snuck in. They’re saying repairs should be done within 24 hours, but if you were planning on hopping over to Long Island, you might need a Plan B. Always something, right?

Weather Update

Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Fairfield County

Heads up, Fairfield County! The National Weather Service is waving the red flag with a severe thunderstorm warning until 11 PM. Stay indoors if you can, and definitely avoid driving if possible. Expect heavy rain, strong winds, and maybe even some hail. I’m just hoping my power doesn’t go out!

Statewide Heat Advisory in Effect

And… it’s still hot. Like, really hot. The heat advisory is still in effect for the entire state. We’re talking mid-90s tomorrow. Drink lots of water, avoid running a marathon at noon, and check in on your elderly neighbors. You know, be a good human. I’m already dreaming of autumn…

Well, that’s the news for tonight, folks! From budget battles to thunderstorms, it’s been a busy day in Connecticut. Stay safe, stay cool, and maybe check out that art festival if you get a chance. And don’t forget to let me know what you think about that “Clean Connecticut” bill. Do you think it will actually make a difference? I’m curious to hear your thoughts!
