High School Football
Game Results
Last Friday night saw some nail-biting action on the gridiron! The Parkersburg Big Reds clashed with the Ripley Vikings, resulting in a 28-21 victory for the Big Reds. What a game! The winning touchdown came with just seconds left on the clock – you could feel the tension in the air, even from the stands! Meanwhile, over in Williamstown, the Yellowjackets dominated the Belpre Golden Eagles, securing a decisive 42-14 win. Word on the street is that Williamstown’s quarterback had an amazing night, throwing for over 300 yards. Did anyone see that Hail Mary pass? Unbelievable!
Upcoming Games
Get ready for another exciting week of high school football! This Friday, the Big Reds will be facing off against their rivals, the Parkersburg South Patriots. That’s always a big one! Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM at . Should be a packed house. Meanwhile, the Williamstown Yellowjackets will be hitting the road to take on the Fort Frye Cadets. I’m hearing that Fort Frye has a pretty tough defense this year, so that’ll be a real test for the Yellowjackets. And don’t forget, tickets are usually cheaper if you buy them in advance. Just a little tip!
Player Spotlight
This week’s player spotlight shines on Parkersburg’s own, running back, #22, Jake “The Jet” Johnson! Jake has been absolutely tearing it up this season, averaging over 150 rushing yards per game. Last week against Ripley, he scored three touchdowns, including that game-winning run. I tell you what, this kid has got some serious speed and determination. “I just want to do whatever I can to help my team win,” Johnson said in a post-game interview. A humble superstar, gotta love that.
